WASHINGTON -- I'm going to assume that, when Tom Wilson someday calls it a career, he won't be pursuing his doctorate degree in quantum physics.
And I say that about the Capitals' bulky winger not because of his breakneck, crackback, blow-out-the-knee style on the ice but, rather, because of this strikingly stupid assessment he offered Saturday morning when asked to contrast his team's opponent in this second-round Stanley Cup playoff series to the one it previously punched out.
"They're a fast, powerful team," he spoke of the Penguins. "And maybe not as gritty and ... um, kind of emotionally involved as Philly was."
Hm.
Allow me, please, to counter with the following as Exhibit A: Pittsburgh 2, Washington 1.
No, not the mere outcome of Game 2 of this now-tied series. That's too easy.
I'm talking about grit. And about emotion. And about being involved.
