RIO DE JANEIRO -- Mt. Lebanon's Leah Smith finished sixth in the 800-meter freestyle swim, her final event of these Olympics, with a time of 8:24.50 Friday night. She was fourth after the first 100 meters but steadily fell back from there.

As expected, her U.S. teammate Katie Ledecky continued her domination of these Games by winning her fourth gold by shattering her own world record by nearly two seconds in 8:04.79. She's the second woman in Olympic history to win the 200, 400 and 800 at the same Games.

That left Smith, 20, with a bronze in the 400 free and a gold in the 4×200 free relay to show for her first Olympics.

More to come.
