Carter's Classroom: Unsure Roethlisberger sinks offense taken at Highmark Stadium (Steelers)

Ben Roethlisberger was unsure of his reads often in the loss Sunday to the Dolphins. — MATT SUNDAY / DKPS

Questions rise after every loss the Steelers have against inferior teams, including the loss last Sunday to the Dolphins. Some might point to a lack of preparation as a whole in these situations, with the main criticism falling upon Mike Tomlin.

But one consistent has been the lack of rhythm in the offense, often fueled by Ben Roethlisberger's not being sure about what the opposing defense is trying to do.

Sunday's loss was not because of some masterful perfect storm drawn up by the Dolphins. It was because the offense let too many plays get away.

From the 8:18 mark of the second quarter to the 4:20 mark of the fourth quarter, the offense stalled with a string of five consecutive possessions that resulted in either an interception or a three-and-out.
