Carter's Classroom: Facing another rookie quarterback taken at Highmark Stadium (Steelers)

Cody Kessler (6) is the third rookie QB to face the Steelers in 2016 — GETTY

For more than a decade, the Steelers had an impeccable record against rookie quarterbacks while their defensive coordinator was Dick LeBeau. Those days seem all but lost in 2016 as the Steelers have faced two rookie quarterbacks Dak Prescott of the Cowboys and Carson Wentz of the Eagles and lost to both.

Now the Steelers face another rookie quarterback in the Browns' Cody Kessler. One difference is the Browns are 0-10 and the Steelers need to end a four-game losing streak.

While Kessler was pulled for Josh McCown during the Browns' most recent loss last Thursday to the Ravens, it is most likely that he will be the quarterback to start Sunday. In the midst of all the team's struggles, he has managed to maintain a 95.7 passer rating with six touchdown passes and only one interception.

This film room gives a closer study to Kessler's experience as a rookie:

CONNECTION WITH PRYOR

Four of the six touchdown passes by Kessler have been caught by the Browns' converted receiver, Terrelle Pryor. Pryor's huge frame and natural speed make him an easy target for any quarterback.

Kessler, especially, relies on Pryor as his go-to receiver regardless of the coverage he faces. Watch the play below as Kessler forces an unadvised pass into the end zone, but how Pryor makes the catch for the touchdown:
