Sunday’s Best: Some serious stick-on-puck action

The rest is waiting on an opponent to be written, so let’s look at some images from the Penguins’ 5-2, series-clinching win over the Jackets.

“The Pittsburgh Penguins will have a complete day off Friday, April, 21.  The practice schedule will be updated daily until the second round begins.”

That’s the email content that arrives after a team deals with their opponent while the opponent-in-waiting is in the middle of a 2-2 series tie, and must play at least two more games to determine the winner. We don’t know yet if it will be the Capitals or the Maple Leafs, but we do know the Penguins are completely off while those two face off in Game 5.

So, what do we know after the Penguins knocked off the Blue Jackets in their own Game 5?

Well, we know that holding on to Marc-Andre Fleury appears to have been a better move than any trade featuring him could have been. We also know that Stanley Cup champion Phil Kessel is a machine in the playoffs.

The rest is waiting on an opponent to be written, so let’s look at some images from the Penguins’ 5-2, series-clinching win over the Jackets:

I sneaked a couple more photos in this file than I normally would have since we don’t know when the next round of elimination play will begin, and I wanted to share them with you guys. Shhh … don’t tell Dejan. 😉

Look on phil’s face is great!

Feel like that’s the same look he gives when fast food restaurants forget the fries

That Kessel face. That Bobrovsky pic is quite the summary of the entire series too. That’s meme worthy stuff there. 🙂

Fantastic! The looks on every players’ and coach’s face are captured perfectly. The look on Kessel’s face is priceless. Eh, I’ve done this before, now let’s finish them. The captions are great as always. You know your audience as well as the writers.

Great photos! I enjoy the captions, too. I really like the way you capture facial expressions, along with the dynamic action. Each photo is like a mini drama. Awesome stuff.

Your secret’s safe with us from the man in charge. Also, loooooove that Boone Jenner shot. Absolutely great timing and framing on that one.

Agreed! You could’ve sent that to the league for their replay, it was so perfect.

I love that photo of Flower batting the puck away from under the scrum of players above him. Just fantastic.

Great stuff Matt. Given the limitations of where you can shoot from in a hockey rink you seem to always get some timely shots. Great anticipation, skill, or luck, all three I suspect.

I have to confess. When DK decided to put a full time photographer on staff I did not see how the added cost would pay off. Thinking just use the Getty stuff, no big deal.
Boy was I wrong. Your pics bring tremendous added value to the site.
DK, the guy deserves a big raise! lol

My favorite is all the fans taking pictures of yet another Torts meltdown. I hope he coaches them forever!
