STATE COLLEGE, Pa. -- While Penn State's football team worked though spring practices kicker Joey Julius continued fighting his binge-eating disorder.

The Nittany Lions' kick-off specialist, who spent last summer in St. Louis at McCallum Place to seek treatment, took to Facebook to share the reason why he was missing from spring ball for personal reasons.

"I have been struggling over the last couple months with my eating disorder. It got to the point where I had to return to St. Louis to seek further treatment at the McCallum place," Julius wrote on his Facebook page. "Recovery is a wonderful and beautiful thing that I am working on returning too."

The Lions' beloved kicker is slated to be back with the team this summer, special teams coach Charles Huff said following the conclusion of spring practice.

Last fall Julius went public about his struggles with his binge-eating disorder, which was part of his his battle with anxiety and depression. His story was featured on Good Morning America and per his mother's public Facebook page the kicker will also be featured in an upcoming documentary titled 'Why Don't You Lose 5 Pounds,' which is being put together by executive producer and former Olympian Nancy Kerrigan.
