UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. -- Five-star prospect Micah Parsons will take his time before making a college choice and with Penn State among his final nine schools the Harrisburg High School standout was back in Happy Valley Saturday night during the Lions' first on-campus recruiting camp this summer.
While this visit was much different than the camp trip Parsons made last summer -- one where he showed his athleticism as a wide receiver -- the defensive end wasn't a participant this time around, rather an observer who chatted with members of Penn State's coaching staff before heading into the football building.
The former Penn State verbal pledge decommitted in April and will continue visiting elsewhere before picking a college. Still, with a list of finalists that includes Penn State, Ohio State, Georgia, Florida, Florida State, Nebraska, Alabama, Michigan and Miami any time Parsons is around gives the Lions a chance to try and reaffirm why he pledged to them way back when in the first place. Parsons chatted with defensive coordinator Brent Pry at the far side of the field while the coaching stuff put the rest of the campers through drills.
In addition to Parsons' appearance it was running back Jalen Berger, a 2020 prospect who turned heads. Berger, who has offers from Michigan, Maryland, Michigan State, Rutgers and Syracuse, garnered a lot of attention from the coaching staff. Running back's coach Charles Huff put the 6-foot, 175-pound Don Bosco Prep athlete through a series of footwork drills before testing out his hands with a quarterback.
