Felipe Rivero forces himself to suppress the joy he feels when making a hitter look foolish.
That was particularly difficult Saturday afternoon at PNC Park.
In his first opportunity as the Pirates' closer, the left-hander struck out three of the four batters he faced to secure a 7-6 win over the Marlins and he did so with a masterful 14-pitch display.
"I try to keep that to me," Rivero said with a smile. "When I see them swinging I start laughing on the inside. It looks nasty from my side. I don’t know about the hitters, but from my side it looks good."
