Thank you!
If I didn't have a chance to say so in person Sunday at our third anniversary Lunatic Bash -- and I really, really tried to get around to everyone who showed up at our Highmark Stadium offices, both inside and outside on the patio -- then I'll try it again right here: Thank you!
There were so many pleasant surprises, so many familiar names suddenly being attached to actual faces, so many people who came from crazy distances -- the three young dudes who drove all the way from upstate New York were there an hour early! -- that I'd be out of my mind to try to be complete about it all. Some passed through and said hello. Some stayed deep into the night. All were welcome and appreciated.
Longtime subscriber Pierre Wheaton was the big raffle winner -- as he was teased about all night -- but no one left empty-handed thanks in part to generous donations from staff cartoonist Rob Ullman, contributing two sets of his Stanley Cup comic-book series and a bunch more, as well as our friends at PNC grabbing the tab for all the drinks and snacks.
Don't miss the ridiculous community-effort Morning Java from the patio:
Staff photographer Long Hong had far too much fun shooting all this, and his pics here are followed by a message from the man:
Note from Long: This is not the first time I've covered the Lunatic Bash. I was at the inaugural Bash, providing photos for NextPittsburgh in an article that interviewed DK on the success of the site at the time. It was great then. But this Bash? This was far better. Please enjoy all the photos from the Lunatic Bash! It was great to meet everyone and enjoy a conversation with you throughout the event.
