CHICAGO -- Penn State wrestling won't have to worry about Cael Sanderson's run of dominance heading anywhere else in the near future.

The Nittany Lions' wrestling coach, who led the Lions to six NCAA team titles in the past seven years, inked a new long-term contract with Penn State within the past week, athletic director Sandy Barbour said on Tuesday. Sanderson's contract was slated to expire at the end of June.

"Cael and Penn State have executed a new long-term agreement," Barbour said. "We've executed a long-term agreement."

Penn State won't disclose any details of Sanderson's contract. Penn State only requires that the hirings of an athletic director, head football coach, head men's basketball coach and head women's basketball coach are announced. Beyond that, the university typically will not announce extensions. However, given the popularity and success of the wresting program -- coupled with  growing concern from the fanbase that a deal wasn't announced this summer -- surely it'll be met by relief that the wrestling icon, whose program is on an unprecedented roll, won't be headed elsewhere.
