Kovacevic: Pirates bury lowly Giants ... as they'd better taken in San Francisco (Pirates)

Andrew McCutchen follows through on a three-run home run Monday night. - AP

SAN FRANCISCO -- All that stands between these Pirates and serious contention is a mudfield of mediocrity.

Might as well make haste, right?

"Our focus is on us and what we have to do to prepare for every game. That doesn't really change, and it won't change after this," Jordy Mercer was saying at his stall after he and Andrew McCutchen each launched a three-run home run in a 10-3 laugher over the last-place Giants on this chilly Monday night at AT&T Park. "We'll go get a good night's sleep and get right back at it tomorrow."

"Everyone's showing up. Everyone's ready to go. Everyone's ready to win," Cutch said. "That's been the feeling in here for quite some time now."
