STATE COLLEGE, Pa. -- Last week James Franklin acknowledged there are players on the Nittany Lions' recruiting board who they can't take at this point because of the group approaching capacity. Four-star offensive lineman Fredrick "Juice" Scruggs, ranked as the No. 2 center in the nation, is not one of them.
The Lions' 2018 class is shaping up to be something fierce with the addition of Scruggs who attends Erie's Cathedral Prep and announced his commitment to Penn State on Friday afternoon. Scruggs picked Penn State over Ohio State.
Ranked as the top offensive lineman in Pennsylvania per 247 Sports and as the No. 99 overall prospect in this cycle per ESPN, Scruggs' pledge moved Penn State's 2018 class up one spot to No. 3 in the 247Sports rankings. He's the 21st verbal pledge in the 2018 class.
