Nittany Lions name five additional team captains taken in University Park, Pa.

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. -- It wasn't just posing for photos and and grinning at the cameras for Penn State football on Sunday afternoon.

The Nittany Lions also added five new captains. Marcus Allen, Tyler Davis, Grant Haley, Saquon Barkley and Daesean Hamilton will join previously announced captains Jason Cabinda, Trace McSorley and Nick Scott. Penn State's players voted on the new additions.

The eight captains for the 2017 season is an increase from just three captains last season. Typically, Penn State has a leadership council selected by players per grade and that group occasionally meets with James Franklin to go over different ideas during the season.

Newly-appointed captains, as well as their teammates, had a busy Sunday afternoon during Penn State football's photo day. When the players weren't having their photos taken under the hot sun, they spent their time playing music, creating new handshakes, or in Mark Allen's case, napping.
