UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. -- As the final seconds ticked off the clock during the No. 5 Nittany Lions' victory against Georgia State, defensive end Torrence Brown hobbled around on the Penn State sideline.
While the Lions' redshirt junior, who started the first three games this season, wasn't on crutches, he did have a noticeable limp. It was a positive that Brown was in street clothes on the sideline after taking a hit to his right knee in the first quarter and getting carted off the field, but Penn State won't know the severity of his injury until Sunday.
Brown will undergo an MRI on Sunday afternoon, a source confirmed to DKPittsburghSports.com, and that will give the Lions a better indication of his status for the rest of the season.
While James Franklin doesn't discuss injuries and typically won't unless they're season-ending, he did say that Brown broke the team down in the locker room after the game and Franklin said that Penn State is "hopeful" that Brown will be available next week when the Lions head to Iowa to open conference play against the Hawkeyes. Based off how Brown was hobbling around after the game, that probably is wishful thinking, though the MRI on Sunday, of course, will be the determining factor.
