Report: No suspension forthcoming for Burfict kick taken at Rooney Sports Complex (Steelers)

The Bengals' Vontaze Burfict isn't going to draw another suspension from the NFL for his two-footed kick to the face of the Steelers' Roosevelt Nix early in Sunday's game at Heinz Field, according to a report from ESPN.

But the report also says that Burfict could still face a fine from the NFL for his actions, which occurred on the second offensive play for the Steelers in their 29-15 win over the Bengals:

As can be seen here, Nix falls into Burfict at the end of the Le'Veon Bell running play, pushing the Cincinnati linebacker to the ground. Burfict responds with a kick to Nix's facemask right in front of line judge Mark Perlman.

The Steelers weren't happy about the play following the game, most notably Bell.

"My fullback got kicked in the face," said Bell. "That's just not football to me. I don't think that's a respectable play."

Bell doubled down on that statement after the game on Twitter.

It doesn't appear the Steelers will get their wish.

Burfict has been suspended by the NFL for three games on two separate occasions, including to start this season. He's also been fined 10 times. He has drawn 16 15-yard penalties in 61 career NFL games, including three against the Steelers. A team captain for the Bengals, he refused to shake hands with the Steelers' captains during the coin toss for Sunday's game and left the field without acknowledging anyone following the game.

Burfict was limited to two solo tackles in a game in which the Steelers ran the ball 43 times for 152 yards.
