Injured Steelers linebacker Ryan Shazier will remain hospitalized for "several more days," but his long-term prognosis to return to a normal life remains good, according to a national report Sunday.
Per Jason LaCanfora of CBS Sports, the Steelers do not expect Shazier to play again this season, but are optimistic he will walk again after suffering a spinal cord injury in his lower back last Monday night while making a tackle in a win at Cincinnati. Per LaCanfora, the Steelers, however, are not ready to make any long-term decisions regarding whether Shazier will return to play football.
Shazier had spinal stabilization surgery on Wednesday night upon returning to Pittsburgh after being hospitalized for two days in Cincinnati.
Per LaCanfora, the Steelers are not expected to place Shazier on injured reserve, which would end his season. That would mean the team must make a roster move Monday when JuJu Smith-Schuster is reinstated after serving a one-game suspension for a hit on Cincinnati's Vontaze Burfict last week.
