Steelers cornerback Artie Burns was back with the team on Thursday after suffering what he called a scary situation at Wednesday's practice. He didn't practice, but he expressed relief that an injury to his right knee during a non-contact drill the previous day wasn't worse.
"I was scared for a little bit," Burns said Thursday. "After the tests came back, I was better. I'll be good. I tried to make a cut, and being on turf, we don't really play on turf and we've been on there for a while. My knee kind of gave out on me."
The injury was one of two suffered by the Steelers at their practice Wednesday. Defensive end Stephon Tuitt suffered an injury to his right elbow and left the team's facility with his arm in a sling. He was not in the locker room this morning.
The irony of the fact that the team had two injuries after sitting out the opening round of last weekend's playoffs was not lost on Burns.
I asked him exactly that Thursday.
"Yeah, right, you feel me?" Burns said. "I come back the next week and get a little injury. I'll be good, though. I'll go and get a little treatment and get ready for Sunday."
The Steelers host the Jaguars Sunday at 1:05 p.m. in an AFC Divisional Playoff game. Burns said he'll be ready to play, even though he expects to be limited in practice today.
"I feel like I'll be able to go," Burns said of the game. "Once I make it through the week as healthy as I can, I'll be ready Sunday."
Burns was with the team for practice Thursday but did not participate in any activities.
