A nationally televised 35-point loss to No. 7 Duke in front of one of Pitt's largest home crowds this season was brutal in every sense of the imagination, but at least there was a valid excuse.

The Panthers' young and inexperienced lineup lacking its unquestioned leader was painfully outmatched by a star-studded Blue Devils bunch with sure-fire NBA prospects across the board. There's usually no such thing as moral victories or good losses in Division I college basketball, but some – like against Duke –  are understandable.
