Cam Heyward will be going to the Pro Bowl, after all.
The veteran defensive end was named to the AFC roster on Tuesday as a replacement for Oakland's Khalil Mack, who declined to play in the game because of injury.
Heyward, 28, is coming off his best season, one in which he recorded 12 sacks and was named first-team All-Pro. But he was left off the Pro Bowl roster when it was announced in late December despite being named AFC Defensive Player of the Week twice.
Heyward's addition to the AFC roster makes him the ninth Steelers player to be named to the Pro Bowl and second defensive player. Teammate Ryan Shazier made the roster for the second consecutive season, but will not play after suffering a serious spinal injury.
The other Steelers selected to play in the game are Ben Roethlisberger, Le'Veon Bell, Antonio Brown, Alejandro Villanueva, Maurkice Pouncey, David DeCastro and Chris Boswell.
The Steelers coaching staff also will direct the AFC team in the game, which will be played Jan. 28 in Orlando.
