Conor Sheary did not practice with his teammates on Wednesday and was being evaluated for a lower body injury, Mike Sullivan said afterward.
Sullivan offered no further update on his playing status going into this weekend's back-to-back games against Metropolitan Division rivals Washington and New Jersey.
Sheary played 12:06, taking 16 shifts, but none in the final seven minutes of Tuesday night's 5-2 win over the Sharks. In 52 games this season, Sheary has 12 goals and seven assists for 19 points.
Sidney Crosby and Kris Letang were given the day off after participating in the All-Star game.
