CRANBERRY TOWNSHIP, Pa. -- Looking ahead to all the activity ...

• What: NHL trade deadline

• When: 3 p.m.

• TV: NHL Network (national), TSN (Canada), TVA Sports (Quebec)

• Satellite: SiriusXM 91, Internet 942

• Tracker: NHL.com

FOLLOW THE DEADLINE WITH BRADFORD, DK

3:31: The Penguins formally announce the Jooris deal and that he's being assigned to Wilkes-Barre. Looks like that'll be it. In the past, when they've made their announcement, that's been it.

3:21: J.T. Miller, the Pittsburgh native, also heading to Tampa Bay from New York.

3:18: From DK: Just a reminder that 3 p.m. as a deadline doesn't mean anything in the real world.

3:15: From DK: Patrick Maroon's going to the Devils from the Oilers. Hilarious that anyone in Edmonton would ever pick up the phone when Ray Shero calls.

3:12: From DK: Erik Karlsson's staying in Ottawa, according to the Sun up there.

3:10: From DK: Tampa Bay finally jumps in, and it's in a big way: Ryan McDonagh is heading there from New York. And it sure sounds like there's a lot more layers on that to come.

3:05: Carolina center Josh Jooris is coming to Pittsburgh in exchange for Greg McKegg.

3:02: Jim Rutherford will address the media at 4 p.m. in Cranberry.

3:0o: The clock has struck. We'll wait to see if anything late happened.

2:55: Reminder that some deals are not announced until after the 3 p.m. deadline.

2:54: RDS's Francois Gagnon is reporting that the Penguins are showing interest in Montreal's Jordie Benn. Would be the best beard in Pittsburgh.

2:51: Jussi Jokinen -- remember him? -- is going to Vancouver in Vanek deal. Will be his fourth team this season.

2:46: CBJ making desperate push today to get in playoffs: Cole, Letestu and now Tomas Vanek.

2:45: Capitals going hard for Karlsson, per Washington Post.

2:33: The conditions on the Evander Kane deal, per Pierre LeBrun: It's a first-rounder if Sharks re-sign Kane, but a second in 2019 if he walks.

2:29: Looks like the Erik Karlsson sweepstakes will come down to the wire. Would be shocked if it gets done today. That always seemed like a July 1 kind of move.

2:22: The Penguins are going to make a late push for Cullen.

2:21: Don't bother ordering your McDonagh jersey. That deal is not going to happen. Multiple sources confirming that.

2:19: Jason Chimera is going from the Islanders to the Ducks. So much for that vaunted Isles fourth line.

2:15: It's a conditional first, conditional fourth and a prospect going to Buffalo for Kane. Good job by Jason Botterrill on that one.

2:14: From DK: Evander Kane from the Sabres to the Sharks. He was never a possibility for the Penguins. The only one who liked Kane in the organization had been Rick Tocchet, and I'm sure of that.

1:45: Per Nick Kypreos, Penguins are inquiring about Ryan McDonagh. That would be big. Also some creative math. He his owed $4.7 million next season. Would be a great fit. Keep in mind that "inquiring" is a vague term and could be a ploy to drive up the asking price for another Eastern Conference opponent like, say, the Capitals or Lightning.

12:37: Sullivan says Brassard's still in Toronto awaiting immigration and that Kessel just had a 'maintenance day.' Of Brassard, he added, he's still waiting on papers and that the team hoped the immigration issues would be resolved “Hopefully today or tomorrow.”

12:28: Sullivan says Murray's being evaluated. He doesn't use the word 'concussion,' but it couldn't be clearer that was his reference.

12:25: From DK: Brendan Leipsic from Vancouver to Vegas.

12:16: From DK: Paul Stastny to Winnipeg. There's the first big one today. And this makes up for the Jets missing out on Brassard, given that the Jets got muscled out by Vegas basically giving the Penguins a financial loan. The Blues get a first-rounder back.

12:05 p.m.: Johnny Oduya claimed off waivers by Flyers. Scratch another veteran D-man off the wish list.

11:48: Matt Murray has left practice early. He took a puck to the head about 10 minutes earlier on a shot from Olli Maatta.

11:46: Here’s lines and pairs from practice:

Guentzel-Crosby-Rust

Hagelin-Malkin-Hornqvist

Simon-Sheahan-Sheary

Aston-Reese-Rowney-Kuhnhackl

Dumoulin-Letang

Maatta-Schultz

Hunwick-Oleksiak

11:33: There was an incorrect tweet from the team that Zach Aston-Reese was not practicing today. Don’t worry, he’s here. Again, the only ones missing are Brassard and Kessel.

11:31: Brassard does not play PK. The Penguins now only have one center who does: Riley Sheahan. Carter Rowney could be used as a wing and handle draws on PK but that would seem far from ideal. Cullen could also play that same role but, again, I don’t see that coming. Could Crosby play more PK?

11:28: There had to have been an opportunity for the Penguins to reacquire Cole. The Blue Jackets sent only a third-round pick and a prospect to get him from Ottawa. If the Penguins are going to win the Cup again, they’re going to have to acquire another veteran defenseman. The Penguins are only as strong as their weakest link and Matt Hunwick is clearly that.

11:25: Tom Kuhnhackl is a full participant after a lower body injury has sidelined him since Feb. 6.

11:23: There continues to be speculation surrounding Matt Cullen and a return to Pittsburgh. Obviously, there’s a history and an affinity between Cullen and GMJR. Just don’t see it happening with Minnesota still very much in contention.

11:18: No Derick Brassard or Phil Kessel on the ice here. Kessel's likely a maintenance day.

11:15: Jim Rutherford can be seen on his phone in his office above the Lemieux Sports Complex. The Penguins’ practice is just getting under way after a late start.

10:45: From DK: Cole on Canada's Sportsnet about joining John Tortorella: “You hear stories about Torts. I’m excited to experience it first-hand.”

10:05 a.m.: From DK: The Blue Jackets acquire Ian Cole, naturally, for forward Nick Moutrey and a 2020 third-round draft pick. I'm a little surprised Columbus has been this active at the deadline, in this and other talks.

THE SETUP

DK and I will be on this file with trade updates that relate to the Penguins, as well as around the NHL. The team practices here at the Lemieux Sports Complex at 11 a.m., and it remains to be seen if Derick Brassard can arrive in time from Toronto. Jim Rutherford told me Sunday that was still uncertain.

In the meantime, DK has an all-deadline Grind, and I've got a Hertz Drive to the Net breaking down what Brassard will bring to this team.
