INDIANAPOLIS -- A national report surfaced last week that said the Steelers were listening to offers for Martavis Bryant.
Kevin Colbert said Wednesday that, while teams have called to inquire about the availability of the wide receiver, the Steelers have not pursued any trades and have quickly told teams he is not available. The trade offers were reported by the NFL Network.
"Teams have inquired to us based on media reports," Colbert said. "Martavis is a Pittsburgh Steeler and we want him to continue to be a Pittsburgh Steeler. He put together a great season last year. A lot of guys don't make it back from that year-long suspension, but he did. He did a lot of good things. He did a few things he regrets, I think, on the social media aspect of things. But he got through it. I thought he got better throughout the year. We're not pursuing it and if teams pursue it with us, we tell them we're not interested."
Bryant, 26, was suspended for the entire 2016 season after a positive drug test but played 15 of 16 regular season games in 2017, serving a one-game suspension from Mike Tomlin for a social media post on which he degraded the talents of teammate JuJu Smith-Schuster.
He also asked the team to trade him at midseason, but later said he was happy with his role with the team.
But he matched his career high with 50 receptions, though his 603 receiving yards and three touchdowns were well off his career numbers. In his first 21 career games, Bryant had 15 touchdowns.
Bryant is heading into the final year of his contract with the Steelers. He is scheduled to earn $705,000 in 2018.
