Phil Kessel in pain in the third period. - MATT SUNDAY / DKPS

Phil Kessel scored one goal and set up another Saturday night in the Penguins' 5-2 win over the Canadiens at PPG Paints Arena, but he wasn't around for the end of it.

Kessel left the game in the third period with what appeared to be an upper-body injury after scoring his 31st goal on the power play at the 7:18 mark of the third period.

Below, Kessel could be seen skating back to the bench with a pained look on his face after being struck by a puck with 11:28 remaining in the game.

Mike Sullivan had no word on Kessel's status for Sunday night's game against Washington. He'll give an update when he speaks to reporters at 5:30 p.m. Kessel has proven very durable during his 12-year career. He has played every one of his team's games dating back to the 2009-10 season. His ironman streak of 689 consecutive games is the third-longest among active players behind only Keith Yandle and Patrick Marleau and is 10th all-time.

Kessel has been enjoying his finest statistical season with the Penguins, registering a career-high 87 points in 79 games.
