Whether Evgeni Malkin is the NHL's most valuable player won't be known until late June.
But we do know that he is the Penguins' MVP. Not that it should come as a surprise.
The team announced on Tuesday that Malkin is the winner of the team award as selected by the club's hockey operations staff. The Russian is tied for third in goals (42) and is third in points (96), the only player to rank in the top three in each category.
In other team team awards, Sidney Crosby won the Player's Player award, while Matt Murray was the team's community service winner. As announced previously, Kris Letang is the team's nominee for the Masterton.
The Penguins will host the Senators on Friday night for Fan Appreciation Night.
