STATE COLLEGE, Pa. -- Penn State's home schedule shouldn't lack for entertainment next season and it should come without much surprise that the biggest projected home game will also serve as the White Out.
Penn State continues announcing game themes for next season and among those is the White Out game, set for Sept. 29 against the Buckeyes. While start times won't be set until a later date, the lure of Penn State vs. Ohio State plus the projections for both teams headed into next season should make this one a marquee matchup under the lights with a lot of intrigue.
Surely Penn State fans remember what happened the last time Ohio State came to town for a White Out game as the Nittany Lions upset the Buckeyes in a win that in many ways helped this program turn the corner and into a national contender.
While the White Out will be happening sooner than usual this season, it's possible it won't be Penn State's first or even second night game of the season. While no start times have been set yet the Lions' trip to Heinz Field looks like it's in line for a night game and Penn State then plays on the road two weeks after playing Pitt for a rare Friday night game against Illinois.
Penn State will have an extra day of preparation for the Buckeyes because of the short turnaround from Kent State to the Friday Illinois game. Penn State's bye comes right after playing Ohio State. The Nittany Lions play Michigan State, ideally without a lengthy weather delay this time, the week following the bye.
Until the Week 5 Ohio State matchup here's a reminder of what Beaver Stadium looked and sounded like for the White Out last year, a 42-13 win against Michigan.
