This year's MLB Draft almost turned into a record-setting one for Pitt baseball.

Three more Panthers were selected Wednesday — pitcher Derek West, infielder Liam Sabino and pitcher Yaya Chentouf — which brought the total for this year's draft to five, one short of the record set in 2011 when six Pitt players were drafted by Major League clubs.

That trio joined Tuesday selections RJ Freure and Matt Pidich, and Pitt coach Joe Jordano hailed all of his program's draft picks on Twitter shortly after the event wrapped up late Wednesday.
