The Penguins' 2018-19 season will pick up right where they left off — at home, against the Capitals.
All teams announced their home opener dates on Wednesday, and the Penguins will host the new Stanley Cup champions on Thursday, Oct. 4 at 7:00 PM at PPG Paints Arena. The league's entire regular-season schedule will be released at 5 p.m. Thursday.
Surprisingly, the Penguins will not be in attendance to see the Capitals' first real banner go into the Capital One Center rafters on Oct. 3. The NHL thought that the Bruins would make for a better opening night opponent for the Capitals.
The Penguins have a 4-0 record in home openers against the Capitals.
