With numerous outlets reporting Tampa Bay quarterback Jameis Winston will be suspended for three games by the NFL for a violation of the league's Personal Conduct Policy, that could be good news for the Steelers.
Pittsburgh travels to Tampa Bay in Week 3 of the 2018 season, meaning the Steelers would miss playing against Winston and would instead face backup Ryan Fitzpatrick.
While Winston is coming off a season in which he threw a career-low 19 touchdown passes, he's still a far more difficult quarterback for which to prepare than the 35-year-old Fitzpatrick.
In five career games against the Steelers, most coming with Cincinnati, Fitzpatrick is 0-5 with a passer rating of 79.9. The Steelers have never faced Winston, the first overall pick of the 2015 draft.
The Steelers are 8-2 in their history against Tampa Bay, but lost the most recent meeting, 27-24, at Heinz Field in 2014.
