CRANBERRY, Pa. -- The Penguins re-signed forward Jean-Sebastien Dea to a one-year contract, they announced on Thursday.
The contract is a two-way deal and has a value of $650,000 at the NHL level. As with last season, Dea will require waivers if the Penguins reassign him to Wilkes-Barre from Pittsburgh during the season.
Dea was a restricted free agent who the Penguins qualified on Monday.

Dea was initially signed to an entry-level deal after attending development camp and training camp in 2013, and turned pro in 2014-15. After working his way up from Wheeling, Dea made his NHL debut with one game in the 2016-17 season. He played in five games in 2017-18, and scored his first NHL goal on Jan. 23 against Carolina.
Dea finished second overall in scoring on Wilkes-Barre/Scranton last season, recording 18 goals and 32 assists in 70 games. He spent time on Wilkes-Barre's power play and penalty killing units, and led the team with four shorthanded goals.
