Serena Williams a “class act”? Maybe she is maturing, but I can’t get the picture of her threatening to shove a ball down the lineswoman’s throat at the US Open a few years back out of my mind…

emoneypitt
emoneypitt

So DeMarco Murray is retiring at 30. Bell is what, 27 or 28? And he wants $15MM a year for four or five years? He’s an idiot for not signing that contract last year, and the Steelers will be idiots if they do sign him to a big contract. Just beat the hell out of him this season with that franchise tag and then move on. There’s always some fresh young running backs out that that a good offensive can make look good.

jmbell
jmbell

Terrible take, Bell is way better than Murray ever was and will last a lot longer. And no Bell isn’t replaceable, Steelers would be dumb to lose him their offense would be way worse.

If Owens had a legitimate reason that he was unable to attend, I’m sure the committee would honor him differently. He is going out of his way to voluntarily not be there. You can’t compare this to the posthumous inductees.

I may be in the minority here, but I applaud the HOF regarding TO. Out of sight, out of mind.

Zebug

Screw TO…. I’d be ok if they left him out of the Hall until he shows up like a respectable man.

jrziskey
jrziskey

Goodell is an arrogant and pompous jerk, so what the NFL is doing for the Hall of Fame ceremony in regards to TO doesn’t surprise me a bit.

Houshmanzada(or however you spell his name). Talked about how cheap the Bengals were while he played there. Reminded me of the pirates and hopefully it’s not that bad.

schwab
schwab

The Bengals are the northernmost team without an indoor practice facility as an example of how insanely cheap Brown is

pierre15208

The NBA can resolve the one and done matter by just doing away with the D-League or G-League or whatever they’re calling it now and making every franchise run a reserve team. Pay those players a nominal salary and have them play in the same arenas as the big club. They may not play in front of large crowds, but they’ll at least they’ll get to be in the shadow of NBA players and learn the big clubs system. But the NBA won’t do that because they won’t pay for what they’re already getting for free.

Bweese
Bweese

I have a local G League team, and go quite often. They are moving to the point where every team will have their own G League affiliate. They’re almost there now.

emoneypitt
emoneypitt

Not much of an NBA follower but I really hope that the one and done is eliminated. It’s ridiculous. I’d really like to see the system that is in place for baseball. The athlete can either go pro right out of high school, or if not, they have to spend at least three years in college.

Clint Novak

So want a French/English final at this point.. So rare to get a pure rivalry like that for all the marbles

Kucherov just signed 8 years at Geno money. Starts next season I believe I read. Yzerman has ben good, but at some point they are gonna have to get rid of somebody there. They need to hoist the chalice this coming season. They should be the favorites in the East, along with the cough, ahem cough, Caps and of course the Guins, not the friggin Leafs.

theredbaron
theredbaron

Callahan or Palat (along with Sergachev and picks) would have to be shipped out to get Karlsson.

jmbell
jmbell

Yzerman is essentially banking on a bunch of young guys producing for them on ELCs, which is risky. Very top heavy roster with unproven depth. They will definitely regret some of these contracts. Kucherov didn’t do anything in the playoffs this year, when he’s not scoring goals he isn’t helping Tampa win much else.

Rbilak1
Rbilak1

He was invisible vs Caps. Totally invisible. They will regret it.

jrziskey
jrziskey

He was, but so was Kuznetsov prior to this year.

Zman

I thought each player from Cup winning team gets one day to spend with it. Judging by the number of pictures I’ve seen, I think Ovie has had it every day since he left the ice with it.

It’s getting a little stale now. IMHO.

Would someone please tell the Brewers that as a small market team, they are not allowed to even consider the idea of making a move for a quality player like Machado to – gasp – improve their team…

TheWolf
TheWolf

To do so wrecks the Pirates entire sham small market argument. One less lie they can spew.

DemonDachshund
DemonDachshund

They’d only have to stop spewing it if they had any shame, but definitely not a issue for them.

Besides, the Brewers clearly aren’t focused on 2023, like the BMTIB is. What are they thinking?

schwab
schwab

The brewers added key pieces around their young guys by spending some FA money. They have shown they will at least go for it when they have a chance like when they added sabathia. Makes the pirates look even more lame.

England today …. on Ringo Starr’s 78th birthday ….. oh my. I fear the fans will beat each other up while celebrating ….. And no diving or writhing on the ground from either squad. Refreshing ………… but I don’t see them getting past France or Belgium if they make the finals.

The Hana Engel story is just so sad and tragic.

Incredible that someone would actually attempt to fill a tabletop fire pit with fuel while already ignited. Lives altered in an instant.

Wow. That unfortunate incident in Ottawa is a shame. There must be some kind of evil entity surrounding that franchise. God bless that young lady and help her heal.

No disgrace in losing Brazil. What is a disgrace is your biggest star Neymars ongoing clownshow of repeatedly diving and rolling around in fake agony. If youre not embarrassed as a country for him, you damn well ought to be.

Wild Bill

This is why I can’t watch the sport. A small collision, with guys rolling around like they’ve been shot by an elephant gun. Then, they’re miraculously back! Ridiculous.

Playing in the KHL should be good for Bennett. Maybe give him a chance to get healthy and put on some mass…. and who knows maybe some confidence.

Beau is now 26 – the building mass days are slipping away. I feel the NHL has seen the last of Beau.

I’m no doctor, but 5-6 months for a torn meniscus is a bit much, there’s a lot more going on in Weber’s knee. That’s hockey injuries though

All this talk of Kucherov to the NYR. I am gonna laugh my … off if the NYR do a NYR thing and end up with the Bobby Ryan end of the stick in this one.

Our second pick in the 2018 MLB Draft, Gunnar Hoglund, a Competitive Balance pick between Rounds 1 & 2, is going to Ole Miss. This is the kid who walked only two players all year so he apparently has no place in our system.

Even when MLB tries to help the have-nots with competitive balance picks, we eff it up.

Go ahead and add another hockey card to your collection Tampa and win the President’s trophy going away. You will still lose again to Wash or Pens in conference final.

Chestnut is gonna be on the crapper a while trying to poop all that mess out. He better have some industrial strength Ex-Lax on hand.

Chestnut punishes his body and quite possibly has shortened his life for not a lot of money. Dare I say the man is underpaid.

Great post from Minnesota … the Wild have Parise and Suter for 7 more years. They think the 196mil is a “bargain.”

The Penguins should offer sheet Marner next year.

With what cap space? The Guentzel extension will likely cost them over 6 million if he keeps scoring in the playoffs at the rate he has his first two seasons. Combine the Guentzel deal with signing a 3rd line center (maybe re-signing Sheahan) and the cap relief you’ll get from Hagelin and Brassard deals coming off the books will be all taken up.

Penalty kicks are a piss-poor way to determine the winner of an elimination game in a tournament held once every 4 years.

120 minutes where no one can score, followed by a competition where it’s almost impossible not to score. Makes sense.

No but they were probably the same ones who practically handed the cup to the lightening last year. Paper champions

I find it a bit amusing that the Leafs are favored. While, I expect them to be very good this year with the addition of Tavares, that D needs help.

Long time MMA fan, but I have Absolutely no interest in seeing Liddell and Ortiz fight again…..those guys are almost as old as I am!

With that said, the UFC card this Saturday looks to be top notch👍

Leaf D is pathetic. When Ron Hainsey is part of your top D pairing, you’re in trouble (and I like Hainsey, but not as a 1).

I think I’m going to have to cut my NBA viewing to two hours a year down from 4 last season.
