There was a military flyover during Thursday night's preseason game between the Steelers and the host Packers in Green Bay, Wis.
Except it wasn't planned.
Not by the Packers and, apparently, not even by the U.S. Navy, which had two of its MH-60R Seahawk helicopters in the air above Lambeau after the Packers scored their second of six touchdowns. That last part is another story, of course.
"We were right by the tunnel, about 18 rows up, and the helicopters were really low," Chris Heling, who was at the game with daughter Finley, 5, told The Green Bay Press-Gazette. "One guy in the section was trying to tell me they just mis-timed the flyover, but I looked at the gameday information and there wasn't any mention of a flyover."

Paul Ebel, the Green Bay Police commander who oversees game-day policing and security at the stadium, said neither law enforcement nor the Packers had been told that military aircraft would be flying nearby.
"That had us scrambling last night," Ebel told the Gazette.
Normally, military flyovers are planned in advance with coordination from the team, local officials and the military.
According to the Gazette, the Navy, which confirmed there was no planned flyover, was looking into the matter on Friday.
A USA Today photograph appears to show one of the helicopter crew members taking photos or a video as the aircraft flies past the stadium.
The scene was eerily reminiscent of that at PNC Park on July 31 when the Department of Defense conducted training in Pittsburgh. During the Pirates-Mets game, four military helicopters made their way down the Allegheny River just below the level of the stadium lights.
