The remnants of Tropical Storm Gordon forced the postponement of the Pirates' series finale against the Marlins, which was originally scheduled to be played Sunday at 1:35 p.m.
Instead, the two teams will play in the regular season finale Monday, Oct. 1 at PNC Park with a first pitch time to be determined. Fans with tickets to Sunday's game can exchange them for any remaining home game this season or for any April or May home game in 2019, excluding the home opener against the Cardinals on April 1.
The makeup game is currently the only one on Major League Baseball's schedule for Oct. 1, as the wild card playoff games will begin the following night. The Pirates were originally scheduled to finish their season in Cincinnati one day earlier, capping a seven-game road trip.
It is the fifth postponement of the Pirates' season, and the first since June 20. The Pirates, 71-71, will now travel to St. Louis to begin a six-game road trip, with first pitch 8:15 p.m. Monday.
