When the NHL entered a new seven-year partnership with Adidas last season, alternate uniforms were temporarily discontinued.

In June, deputy commissioner Bill Daly revealed that alternate uniforms would be making a return in 2018-19, with some teams using the opportunity to create new alternates.

"We are bringing back third jerseys next season," Daly said. "I can’t tell you the number exactly, but about a third of the teams will have a different one.”

As we near the start of the season, let's take a look at the jerseys that have been unveiled so far. As more teams release their designs, this will be updated.

ANAHEIM DUCKS

The Ducks went retro-inspired for their alternates. The design is the same style as the old Mighty Ducks jerseys, but with a black base instead of the 90's eggplant color. The number and nameplate font is in the current Ducks uniform style.

The design saw mixed reviews from fans. The Mighty Ducks jerseys are iconic, so people were happy to see them return, but some fans were disappointed that the Ducks didn't fully commit to the old style.

The Ducks will also be wearing "Tribute Night" warmup jerseys for select games throughout the season. Each of these jerseys (yes, even Wild Wing) will be worn for one night during pregame warmups.

CAROLINA HURRICANES

The Hurricanes' new alternates are a modernized version of their previous thirds. The new alternate logo includes two flags now as opposed to one, which is the actual symbol of a hurricane warning.

A fun element of these designs is an outline of North Carolina hidden in the negative space between the two flags.

But wait! The Hurricanes weren't done yet. They'll be wearing the HARTFORD WHALERS(!!!!!!!) jerseys for two nights. Fittingly, they'll be wearing them against the Whalers' rival Boston Bruins. Brass Bonanza, the whole deal. It's all coming back:

ARIZONA COYOTES

The "Kachina" jersey returns in Arizona. These jerseys are nearly identical to the jerseys from the '90s, minus "Phoenix" on the shoulder patch to reflect the team's name change.

Response to these jerseys was overwhelmingly positive. Unlike the Ducks, the Coyotes went full-nostalgia.

VANCOUVER CANUCKS

As the Canucks enter their 50th season, the team held a fan vote to choose which thirds would make a comeback. Fans voted between the flying skate, the '80s "V", and the navy orca "C" designs. In the end, the flying skate design won, continuing the trend of '90s designs making a comeback.

70 percent of fans voted for this design. Hard to go wrong with a fan vote.

PHILADELPHIA FLYERS

The Flyers are throwing it all the way back to 2017, bringing back their black Stadium Series uniforms.

Not all that exciting, but at least they aren't atrocities like the time they wore random gold numbering.

COLUMBUS BLUE JACKETS

Like the Flyers, the Blue Jackets aren't going back too far for their inspiration. The Blue Jackets are bringing back their most recent alternate jerseys, a navy and cream jersey with a cannon logo.

NEW JERSEY DEVILS

The Devils are bringing back their original red and green uniforms.

ST. LOUIS BLUES

The Blues are going old school for their thirds.

"Borrowing heavily from the team's inaugural uniforms from the 1967-68 season (and from the jersey worn during the 2017 Bridgestone NHL Winter Classic), the new sweater features the original Blue Note emblem on top of a vintage light blue base with original gold and white stripes along the sleeves and waistline," the team said in a release.

The Blues will wear this jersey on 11 Saturday night home games, including Dec. 29 against the Penguins.

CALGARY FLAMES

The Flames are keeping it simple and old school. No changes to these old sweaters -- no need to mess with perfection:

SAN JOSE SHARKS

The Sharks are going with these very simple, modern-looking black jerseys:

WASHINGTON CAPITALS

The Capitals, following the old school trend, are bringing back this vintage look:

WINNIPEG JETS

The Jets are going with something completely new for their thirds. New design, new wordmark logo, new everything. It's simple, and it works.

The stripes on the sleeves are inspired by the stripes on the original Jets' sleeves.

COLORADO AVALANCHE

The Avalanche are bringing back the alternate jerseys previously worn from 2015-17:

EDMONTON OILERS

The Oilers are going with their old home jerseys. The only addition is a patch recognizing the team's 40th season, five Stanley Cups, and retired numbers:

NEW YORK ISLANDERS

The Islanders jerseys were leaked before any official announcement. The jerseys look much like their previous Stadium Series jerseys:

Are there any designs you want to see make a comeback? What are you hoping to see from the Penguins?
