CRANBERRY, Pa. -- As expected, the Penguins assigned Tristan Jarry to their Wilkes-Barre/Scranton AHL affiliate Friday after being designated 'injured non-roster' when the club finalized its 23-man roster this week.
The 23-year-old suffered a lower body injury during the preseason finale a week ago at Columbus.
Jarry joins John Muse and Anthony Peters as the three goalies on Wilkes-Barre's roster when its season begins Saturday night against Springfield.
During the preseason, Jarry was beaten out by Casey DeSmith to serve as Matt Murray's primary backup in Pittsburgh. Jarry went 14-6-2 last season in the NHL while posting a .908 save percentage and 2.77 goals against average. His 14 wins were most among all rookie goalies.
