The Browns fired head coach Hue Jackson on Monday, making him the sixth Browns coach in a row who has gotten his walking papers following a loss to the Steelers.
NFL.com's Ian Rapoport reported former Steelers offensive coordinator Todd Haley was fired, as well. Haley was not retained by the Steelers after six seasons and was hired in the offseason to run Cleveland's offense.
Jackson finishes his career in Cleveland with a 3-36-1 record, his latest loss being a 33-18 defeat at the hands of the Steelers on Sunday at Heinz Field. It was the Browns' 15th consecutive loss to the Steelers in Pittsburgh and their 25th consecutive road loss, one off the league record.
Defensive coordinator Gregg Williams, a former head coach with the Buffalo Bills, was elevated to head coach.
Jackson joins Mike Pettine, Rob Chudzinski, Pat Shurmer, Eric Mangini and Romeo Crennel as coaches fired by the Browns following a loss to the Steelers.
Williams will be the team's 10th head coach since it returned to the NFL in 1999. But he likely will break the string of head coaches fired after a loss to the Steelers, assuming the new coach is not brought back next year. The Steelers and Browns have already played their two games this season and won't meet again until 2019.
