Nine Steelers lead positions in Pro Bowl voting taken at Rooney Complex (Steelers)

Steelers' fullback Roosevelt Nix (45) blocks a punt earlier this season against Atlanta.

The Steelers had a league-best eight players elected to the Pro Bowl last season and wound up with 10 players overall when some others dropped out.

They're on their way to perhaps improving on both of those numbers this season.

Through one week of fan voting, nine Steelers (7-2-1) lead their respective positions in Pro Bowl voting, including running back James Conner, wide receiver Antonio Brown, fullback/special teamer Roosevelt Nix, offensive tackle Alejandro Villanueva, guard David DeCastro, center Maurkice Pouncey, outside linebacker T.J. Watt, inside linebacker Jon Bostic and placekicker Chris Boswell.

All of that group, with the exception of Watt and Bostic, played in the Pro Bowl a year ago. Inside linebacker Ryan Shazier, who was elected to the game, did not play because of injury.

The Pro Bowl players are determined by the consensus votes of fans, players and coaches. Each group’s vote counts one-third toward determining the 88 players who will be eligible for the Pro Bowl. Fans may cast their votes for their favorite players as described below. Fan voting closes on December 13, 2018 and can be done on the NFL.com site or via social media. To do so, fans can tweet #ProBowlVote with either: Player First Name Player Last Name #ProBowlVote, PlayerTwitterHandle #ProBowlVote, #PlayerFirstNamePlayerLastName #ProBowlVote. Retweets or Replies of tweets which include the #ProBowlVote and any of the above combinations will also count as votes as long as they are public tweets.

The game will be played Sunday, Jan. 27, 2019 at Camping World Stadium in Orlando, Fla. The Steelers, of course, hope to be playing the following week in the Super Bowl in Atlanta.
