The game itself was a loss, but Pitt football is trying to make the most out of their ACC Championship Game appearance, including on the recruiting trail.

The Panthers received verbal commitments over the past week from a pair of players, one of whom is their highest-rated recruit thus far in the 2019 class, and it stands to reason the added spotlight of being one of about 20 FBS teams playing nationally on championship weekend will only help the Panthers' cause with the new early signing period from Dec. 19-21 and National Signing Day on Feb. 6 barely two months away.

It might have slipped under the radar because the commitment came Saturday while Pitt was facing Clemson, but Daniel Carter, a running back out of St. Thomas Aquinas in Fort Lauderdale, Fla., made his decision to come to Pitt known via Twitter. Though the date of his commitment was predetermined — his mother's birthday is Dec. 1 — the timing of announcing right as Pitt was a hot topic on social media seemed more than coincidental.
