Postgame Report: Steelers come up short in Big Easy taken in New Orleans (Steelers)

NEW ORLEANS -- The Steelers now know what they will need to do to have a chance at the playoffs this season.

Drew Brees threw a two-yard touchdown pass to Michael Thomas with 1:25 remaining in the game and then JuJu Smith-Schuster was stripped of the ball by Sheldon Rankins after catching a pass with 32 seconds remaining as the Saints handed the Steelers a 31-28 loss that severely damaged the Steelers' playoff chances.

With the Ravens' 22-10 win Saturday night in Los Angeles against the Chargers, the Colts' 28-27 come-from-behind win over the Giants, and Tennessee's win on Saturday over the Redskins, the Steelers need to win next Sunday against the Bengals to have an opportunity to qualify for the postseason. And then, they'll need some help. Either the Browns have to beat the Ravens in Baltimore, or the Titans and Colts have to end their game in a tie for the Steelers to earn their fifth-consecutive playoff berth.

More to come ...
