Bowl offers young Pitt players window to 2019

For at least 19 Pitt players, the Sun Bowl against Stanford on Monday will be their final time suiting up in a Panthers uniform.

On the other hand, as many as 65 scholarship players, plus any walk-ons who see action, will return from El Paso, Texas with more to come in their Pitt career, and the Sun Bowl — as well as the additional practices leading up to the game — is a chance to finish 2018 strong and lay the groundwork going into spring practices in 2019.

For some players, that means ending a full season on a high note. And there's probably no player who wants that personally — and fans would like to see it, too — than sophomore quarterback Kenny Pickett.
