Mike Tomlin made passing mention of several Steelers needing surgery during his season-ending press conference Wednesday, but he didn't name any names.
DKPittsburghSports.com has learned the following:
• Wide receiver and return man Ryan Switzer is scheduled to have surgery on his right ankle later this week. Switzer, acquired in a training camp trade with the Raiders, became the Steelers' primary return man this season while also catching 36 passes for 253 yards and a touchdown. He suffered the ankle injury in the week of practice prior to the Dec. 16 win over the Patriots but did not miss any time.
• Outside linebacker Anthony Chickillo, who is scheduled to become an unrestricted free agent, also will have ankle surgery at some point.
• Nose tackle Javon Hargrave will have a procedure for an undisclosed issue.
• Practice-squad tight end Christian Scotland-Williamson will have surgery to repair a hernia. Scotland-Williamson was an international exchange player allocated by the league to the Steelers this season.
