Report: Munchak one of two finalists for Broncos job taken at Rooney Complex (Steelers)

Mike Munchak - MATT SUNDAY / DKPS

A decision could be forthcoming soon on whether the Steelers will have to be in the market for a new offensive line coach.

According to Mike Klis of 9News.com in Denver, Steelers offensive line coach Mike Munchak is one of two finalists for the Broncos head coaching position along with Chicago Bears defensive coordinator Vic Fangio.

The Broncos are expected to make a move on one or the other by the end of this week.

But it is beginning to appear that Munchak, 58, will be leaving for Denver or nowhere else. He had also been mentioned as a candidate for the head coaching positions in Green Bay, Miami and Cleveland. But the Packers filled their position Monday with the hiring of Tennessee Titans offensive coordinator Matt LaFleur, while Munchak reportedly declined an opportunity to interview for the Dolphins' position.

The Browns, meanwhile, have not interviewed Munchak among the many coaches to whom they have spoken.

Munchak has been with the Steelers since 2014 after being fired as head coach of the Tennessee Titans. Munchak, a Pro Football Hall of Fame guard for that franchise, went 22-26 in three seasons as the Titans' head coach.

The Steelers currently have two openings on their coaching staff. Outside linebackers coach Joey Porter and running backs coach James Saxon were relieved of their duties in the past week as Mike Tomlin continues to sort out his staff following a 9-6-1 season.
