Brown: All options on table for 2019 taken at Highmark Stadium (Steelers)

Antonio Brown -- MATT SUNDAY / DKPS

Antonio Brown has promised an "interview" to tell his side of the story of what went down in the final week of the 2018 regular season.

That hasn't happened just yet, but he did talk briefly about what happened while working a paid appearance at the Super Bowl for EA Sports.

Brown said in the brief interview, conducted by a reporter from Complex Sports, that there's "a lot of confusion" surrounding his situation with the Steelers.

Brown, of course, could clear that up by conducting a meaningful interview or returning calls from the Steelers. He has refused to return calls from Mike Tomlin and Art Rooney II since walking out on the team before halftime of its 16-13 Week 17 victory over the Bengals.

"I think I want to, but you don't want to point fingers. It's a business and certain things are better kept quiet," Brown said.

Tomlin refused to play Brown in the game after the receiver went AWOL on the team, leaving practice the Friday before the game and failing to report for the scheduled MRI on a knee he claimed was bothering him. He did not return calls from Tomlin that night and spurned calls from both Tomlin and Rooney the next day, leading to his benching against the Bengals.

"I think what people didn't understand is that football is a job," Brown said. "You can't miss and not show up, they'll take your check. A lot of things went on and a lot of communication and a lot of facts wasn't being said. It shows me who got me. Through all of the adversity, through the storm, you see how people feel."

Rooney said last month that Brown had received his game check of just over $56,000 for Week 17, saying the receiver had "probably done enough," to justify payment from the league.

Sources say Brown's agent, Drew Rosenhaus, has been in contact with the Steelers in the past two weeks, giving the Steelers an idea of when the receiver will be in contact with them. That is expected to happen at some point.

Rooney has said that until that happens, it's difficult to see Brown returning to Pittsburgh next season.

"We have left everything open at this point," Rooney said two weeks ago. "There aren’t that many signs out there that that is going to happen, but, like I said before, we haven’t made any decisions and we are going to take our time. There are no real decisions that can or need to be made until middle of March, so we will take that time to evaluate everything."

Brown has openly toyed with playing for other teams on social media, posting photos of himself in uniforms of the 49ers and Packers.

But, Thursday he left open the thought he could return to Pittsburgh.

"Well, you know all options are on the table," Brown said.
