Bay selected to Canadian Hall of Fame

Jason Bay will be inducted into the Canadian Baseball Hall of Fame on June 15.

The former Pirates left fielder was one of four people announced Tuesday as part of the 2019 induction class. The others were former major league pitcher Ryan Dempster, Phillies bench coach Rob Thomson and former Blue Jays general manager Gord Ash.

Bay, a native of Trail, British Columbia, played for the Pirates from 2003-08, hitting. .281/.375/.515 with 139 home runs and 50 stolen bases. He remains the only Pirates player ever to be named National League Rookie of the Year, winning the award in 2004. Bay was also selected to two All-Star Games.
