JOSH HARRISON - MATT SUNDAY / DKPS

Josh Harrison has finally found a new home and will be reunited with former Pirates double-play partner Jordy Mercer.

A free agent, Harrison has agreed to terms on a one-year contract with the Tigers, according to Fox Sports’ Ken Rosenthal. Further details on the deal aren’t yet known but it is contingent on the 31-year-old second baseman passing a physical examination.

Harrison became a free agent in November when the Pirates did not exercise the $10.5-million option in his contract for 2019.

The Tigers signed Mercer, a 32-year-old shortstop, to a one-year, $5.25-million contract in December as a free agent. Mercer and Harrison played together with the Pirates for seven seasons from 2012-18.

Harrison, a two-time All Star, debuted in 2011 and spent his entire major-league career with the Pirates, hitting .277/.317/.408 with 52 home runs and 75 stolen bases.
