DETROIT – The Pirates activated Kyle Crick from the 10-day injured list this morning and optioned Kevin Kramer to Triple-A Indianapolis.
Meanwhile, Dovydas Neverauskas, who was on a rehab assignment at Indy, was activated from the IL and optioned there.
Crick will be available out of the bullpen tonight when the Pirates open a two-game series against the Tigers at Comerica Park. He has been out since April 4 with right triceps tightness.
Crick has pitched two scoreless innings over two appearances this season.
Kramer was recalled from Indy last Thursday when fellow infielder Kevin Newman went on the disabled list. However, he did not appear in any games.
Neverauskas began the season on the IL with a strained left oblique.
PERROTTO’S VIEW
I am a little surprised the Pirates opted to send a position player out upon Crick’s return. With the designated hitter rule in effect during the series in an American League park, Clint Hurdle will be working with just a three-man bench as the Pirates are now carrying 13 pitchers.
