It's only April, but it's now the offseason for all three teams in the Penguins' organization.

Well, a lot. Here's a look at some key dates and happenings to look forward to this offseason.
April 28-May 5: Division I IIHF World Championships, Kazakhstan and Estonia
The second and third-tier World Championship tournaments take place prior to the main tournament, and there are two players of interest for Penguins fans.
Forward prospect Jan Drozg will represent Slovenia in the Division I A tournament, which will be held from April 29 to May 5 in Kazakhstan. Forward Yushiroh Hirano, who played for Wheeling and Wilkes-Barre this season, will play for Japan in the Division I B tournament, held from April 28 to May 4 in Estonia.
May 10-26: IIHF World Championship, Slovakia
Rosters are still being set for the tournament, but a few Penguins are already confirmed to be participating. Patric Hornqvist, Dominik Simon, and Evgeni Malkin will play, with some others still possibly participating.
May 27-June 1: NHL Scouting Combine, Buffalo, N.Y.
The scouting combine is a week-long event where draft prospects participate in fitness testing and interviews with potential teams.
Results from some of the fitness tests will be posted on the NHL Central Scouting website.
June 1: Last day to sign junior prospects from the 2017 draft
The only junior player affected by this deadline in the Penguins' system this year is defenseman Zachary Lauzon, who did not play this past season and only played 25 games in the 2017-18 season due to lingering concussion issues.
If the Penguins do sign Lauzon, he would have to turn pro next season. At 20, he's too old to return to the QMJHL for an overage season.
June 5 for players, June 6 for teams: Salary arbitration notification deadline
This one probably won't matter to Penguins fans, given who the free agents will be. Regardless, teams and players have until the dates above to notify that they will be filing for salary arbitration.
If anyone does file for salary arbitration, hearings are held from June 20 through Aug. 4.
June 15: Last possible day for Stanley Cup Final
Is anyone's bracket still intact?
June 19: NHL Awards, Las Vegas
The finalists are as follows:
Norris Trophy: Mark Giordano, Brent Burns, Victor Hedman.
Masterton Trophy: Nick Foligno, Robin Lehner, Joe Thornton.
Lady Byng Trophy: Aleksander Barkov, Sean Monahan, Ryan O'Reilly.
Selke Trophy: Patrice Bergeron, O'Reilly, Mark Stone.
Vezina Trophy: Ben Bishop, Lehner, Andrei Vasilevskiy.
Mark Messier Leadership Award: Giordano, Wayne Simmonds, Justin Williams
King Clancy Memorial Trophy: Henrik Lundqvist, Oliver Ekman-Larsson, Jason Zucker
Ted Lindsay Award: Connor McDavid, Nikita Kucherov, Patrick Kane
Jack Adams Award: Craig Berube, Jon Cooper, Barry Trotz
Calder Trophy: Jordan Binnington, Rasmus Dahlin, Elias Pettersson
Hart Trophy: Sidney Crosby, Kucherov, McDavid
June 21-22: NHL Draft, Vancouver
The Penguins currently hold five selections in the upcoming draft.
The Penguins have their first-round pick for the first time since 2014. They'll make their next selection in the fourth round with the pick that originally belonged to the Sabres and was acquired in the Conor Sheary trade.
The Penguins have their own pick in the fifth round, and then two selections in the seventh round -- their own, and the pick originally belonging to the Golden Knights, which was acquired in a one-for-one trade for the Penguins' seventh-round pick in 2018.
June 25: RFA qualifying offer deadline
The Penguins have until 5 p.m. to extend qualifying offers to any of their restricted free agents, or they become unrestricted free agents at the start of free agency.
Zach Aston-Reese, Teddy Blueger, Juuso Riikola and Marcus Pettersson are restricted free agents. Notable restricted free agents from Wilkes-Barre include Adam Johnson and Joseph Blandisi.
Late June: Development camp, Cranberry, Penn.
The dates will be released later this summer, but the Penguins have held recent development camps shortly after the Draft.
Development camp typically features three days of on-ice activities, open to the public at the Lemieux Complex.
July 1: Opening day of free agency
Free agency opens at noon.
Garrett Wilson, Matt Cullen, Zach Trotman, and Chad Ruhwedel are the lone unrestricted free agents from the NHL roster. Notable from Wilkes-Barre include unrestricted free agents Thomas Di Pauli and Ethan Prow.
Late July - Early August: World Junior Showcase
The World Junior Showcase takes place each summer and functions as a first audition for the winter's World Junior Championship tournament, and usually features teams from Canada, the United States, Sweden, and Finland.
Last season, Calen Addison participated in the tournament for Canada, and Filip Hallander participated for Sweden.
Early September: Prospects Challenge, Buffalo, N.Y.
The Penguins' prospects participate in a tournament with other teams' prospects each summer, and for the past several years they have played in the Prospects Challenge hosted by the Sabres.
The tournament typically features three games over four days.
September 1, 19: CBA decisions
This one is huge. The current collective bargaining agreement is set to expire following the 2021-22 season. Both the league and the player's association have the option to opt out early, however.
If the NHL chooses to opt out of the current CBA, they must notify the NHLPA on Sept. 1. If the NHLPA chooses to opt out, they can choose to do so on Sept. 19.
If either side chooses to opt out, the CBA would then expire in September 2020, setting up the possibility for a lockout to start the 2020-21 season.
