Matt Murray has been named to Canada's roster for the upcoming World Championship, Hockey Canada announced Monday.
The World Championship will take place from May 10 to 26 in Slovakia this year.
Murray is the lone representative from the Penguins on the roster after Sidney Crosby previously announced that he would not participate in the tournament.
Murray, at 24, is the oldest goaltender on Canada's roster. He's joined by 20-year-old Flyers goaltender Carter Hart and 22-year-old Mackenzie Blackwood of the Devils.
Murray joins Evgeni Malkin, Patric Hornqvist, Teddy Blueger, and Dominik Simon as Penguins players confirmed to be playing in the tournament. Prospects Jan Drozg and Yushiroh Hirano are playing in the Division-I tournaments.
This will be Murray's first time playing in the World Championship, and second time playing for Canada in any capacity. He previously played for Canada in the U-18 World Junior Championship in 2012, winning bronze. In 2016, he also played for the North American team in the World Cup.
