Pick your all-time team ... but be careful taken at Rooney Complex (Steelers)

Just look at the history of the Steelers, Lunatics.

I was born in 1991, which means I missed those '70s Steelers teams, the dreaded '80s teams and, even though I was alive, the '90s are a blur for the most part, too. For some, this could mean, "Oh well, I missed it, move on." But for me... Well, my dad tried to knock out his front teeth with a dumbbell when he was 13. That's how much Jack Lambert meant to him. For real. He just had to do everything "Jack Splat" did — even when it was clinically insane.

I've been inundated with the team's history since I could walk, and stories surrounding the glory years were always a crowd pleaser at Homistek Family get-togethers. Lambert, Jack HamMel BlountTerry Bradshaw, Franco Harris — these guys are more superheroes than humans if you listen to my family tell it.

Oh, and there's this guy, Joe Greene. He wore No. 75. He was pretty good, too, I hear.

All this got me thinking today: What if you had a fantasy draft with some of the best Steelers throughout history? If you were starting a franchise today, in 2019, and you could select three Steelers — past or present — on a fixed budget to build your foundation, who would you take?

Would you drop $50 on Greene and ensure your defensive line was elite for years to come? Do you take Bradshaw or Ben — or do you pass on a Hall-of-Fame quarterback and focus elsewhere? Do you dare roll the dice on Antonio Brown for the meager $10 and hope you can keep his ego in check?

These are all factors for you to consider. Team chemistry matters. Team composition matters.

Assume you get these players as rookies and their careers play out as they have in real life. If you pick a Hall of Famer, you get a Hall-of-Fame career on your new squad. If you pick, say, James Farrior, you get his brain and his leadership along with his physical skills.

So who will it be? You have $100.

Use it wisely.
