RICHMOND, Va. -- While I will grudgingly admit the fact that the NHL is still playing hockey on Memorial Day is fairly ridiculous, you’ll never hear me say that I don’t love it.
Finishing up the long, solemn weekend with the catharsis of a high-stakes hockey game is a delight, and the singular joy of watching your team play well into June is something every dedicated hockey fan deserves to experience (Philadelphia, as always, excepted). We’ve been lucky around here, obviously. With this year’s matchup, fans in St. Louis will get to revel in the thrill for the first time in a half-century.
I’ve got high hopes for them!
