Andrew McCutchen is out for the remainder of the season with a torn ACL in his left knee, the Phillies announced on Tuesday.
McCutchen was injured in the Phillies 8-2 loss in San Diego on Monday night in a rundown between first and second base in the first inning.
"I didn't feel it pop or anything," McCutchen said on Monday. "Something felt uncomfortable, something that made me grab my knee and go down. I've had an ACL injury before, and I know what that feels like. This didn't feel like that."
McCutchen tweeted this late Monday night:
Pray for me. Please

McCutchen is optimistic about being ready for the start of next season.
Andrew McCutchen said he hopes to be ready by Opening Day 2020. “It’s a sucky dynamic,” he said. “It’s not the news I wanted to hear.” He said he is confident he can be the same player next season because of advancements in medicine since he tore his other ACL in high school.
